This year we committed ourselves to making the EBF’s vast archives of essays, book reviews, videos, and audio recordings available to the public. To accomplish this goal we’ve designed a new website around a content management system (CMS), an online application that lets us post thousands of continually updated web pages. Thanks to the powerful tools included in our CMS, the EBF can now provide an online library of resources to Becker fans around the world.
So what exactly can you find on ernestbecker.org? Take a look at the upper-right corner of this web page. You should see a menu with five links (Home, Resources, Store, Community, and Events) as well as a search bar. These six items are key to successfully navigating our online materials.
The “HOME” button takes you to the heart of ernestbecker.org – our front page. The front page always displays the most recent EBF news and essays. To view older articles or news stories simply scroll to the bottom of the page and click the “next” button. This lets you move backwards chronologically through our news archives.
This is the meat and potatoes of our online presence. The “RESOURCES” link presents you will several different sections of archived material, each with dozens (sometimes hundreds!) of articles. Want to listen to old EBF lectures? Click on the “audio materials” section and peruse our audio recordings of award-winning speakers. Want to read up on Dan Liechty’s book reviews? More than 50 are available in the “Of Recent Interest” section.
Once you click on a specific section the individual items are arranged chronologically, with the most recent material displayed on the first page. Use the “prev” and “next” buttons at the bottom of each page to move backwards or forwards.
The EBF offers a variety of DVDs, CDs, and print materials that explain and explore Becker's groundbreaking theories. Whether you've been reading his books for years or are completely new to Becker's analysis, our store is sure to have something right for you. Most importantly, all proceeds are used by the EBF to administer programs that reduce human violence and increase understanding.
After being bit by the Becker bug, many of us aren’t sure what to do next. This link provides several ways to connect with other Becker aficionados and get involved with the EBF community.
Every year the EBF organizes an annual fall conference and several smaller events to expanded the discussion and advanced the application of Becker’s theories. Write-ups of past events—and promotions for upcoming events—are available through this link. Past events are listed from most recent to least recent. Upcoming events placed at the very top of the list.
With so much material spread out over nearly two decades of EBF history it can be hard to find the precise article or recording you want. The search bar is a quick and easy way to sort through our online database and find exactly what you’re looking for. Just type in some keywords or the author’s name and press return!
