EBF and Saybrook University partner on Becker Student Scholarship Award
This fall the Ernest Becker Foundation will join forces with Saybrook University to encourage Becker-related student scholarship among its students. Saybrook, based in the Bay Area, offers masters and doctoral programs in clinical psychology, mind-body medicine, and organizational leadership and transformation.
The EBF will offer a $1000 Award to the Saybrook student with the best Becker-related paper or research during the 2015-2016 academic year, as selected by a joint panel of Saybrook and EBF representatives. The winning student will have the opportunity to receive another $1000 Award by further developing the paper or research for publication. We will also offer a subsidy to the faculty member who manages the Award for Saybrook.
“We sought out partnership with Saybrook based on its strong commitment to teaching the work of Ernest Becker to its students,” said Deborah Jacobs, EBF executive director. “We’re excited to see new ideas emerge from this exciting award.”
Saybrook will offer two Becker-related courses in September: The Visionary Psychology of Ernest Becker andTerror Management Theory: Foundations, Critique, and Application.
This award would not have been established without the efforts of Kirk Schneider and Louis Hoffman from Saybrook University. We are thankful for their collaboration and dedication to our new partnership.
