Ernest Becker made important contributions to existential thought and inspired research that eventually became the science of existential psychology—most notably through his The Birth and Death of Meaning (1971), his 1974 Pulitzer Prize winning The Denial of Death (1973), and his Escape From Evil (1975).

The International Society for the Science of Existential Psychology (ISSEP) is working hard to honor the legacy of Ernest Becker and the EBF. Since 2023, ISSEP has been maintaining the EBF website and the many resources available here (ernestbecker.org), has been cultivating and producing original Becker-related content on its own website (issep.org) each year, and has established the annual grants and awards program known as the Ernest Becker Honors to stimulate new research and scholarship built on Ernest Becker’s ideas.

Your donation will help ISSEP continue to honor the legacy of Ernest Becker and the EBF, and continue its mission to advance the research, communication, and application of the science of existential psychology. Your donation will make an impact through: original website material; resources for researchers, teachers, students, and the broader community; events, including conferences and workshops; research grants to help facilitate scientific advances in the field; awards to stimulate and recognize substantial contributions to the field, promote innovation, cultivate diversity and inclusion, and support student engagement; and efforts to communicate the value of the research and ideas to the general public.
